One of the most prestigious events on the Australian surfing calendar, the Telstra Drug Aware Pro is about to get underway at Margaret River, Western Australia. The Telstra Drug Aware Pro features an ASP Prime rating for the Men's and ASP 6-Star for the Women, the highest rating possible for an ASP World Tour event and offers massive points for ASP World Championship Tour qualification.
Mike McAuliffe, the Telstra Drug Aware Pro Contest Director is excited to see the world's best surfers in south west WA, and a promising swell forecast.
"We're going to start with the Women's Round of 60," Macualiff said. "The five day forecast looks great! We will have waves up to 8 foot (2.5 meters), but not dropping below 4 foot (1.5 meters). There will be some strong winds, but they'll mostly be offshore. The best days look like Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Everyone's excited about the event and we're looking forward to seeing some great surfing in some amazing waves."
Today will feature four man heats with surfers the like of Nikki Van Dijk (AUS), Ellie-Jean Coffey (AUS), Nao Omura (JPN), Bethany Hamilton (HAW), Alessa Quizon (HAW), Bronte Macaulay (AUS), Rosanne Hodge (ZAF) and Bruna Schmitz (BRA).
Hi-Res images, Press Release, TV Newsfeed and Radio audio clips to be distributed throughout the day.
